Four centuries of sharing a gourd.
One gourd, one bombilla, passed hand to hand around a table. Mate has always been slow, social and a little bit sacred. We grew up on it.
But the ritual asks for hot water, a free hand and good company. Not every morning has room for all three.
We put it in a bag.
